Naturopath Practitioner in Bracebridge

Dr. Michelle McKee ND
Board Certified, Licensed Naturopathic Doctor with Bio-identical Hormone Therapy Prescribing Rights in Ontario.

As a mom with two young kids, I understand the challenges that come with busy schedules, illnesses, parenting, work/life balance, all while taking care of little dependents.

It's VERY hard to prioritize our own health. I’m a big believer that small changes can have a big, lasting impact and that the whole family thrives when mom (and dad!) prioritize their health needs too. There’s no room for perfection or diet restriction when we work together!

1.

I like to determine and address the root cause when possible.

Example: Iron deficient but eating dietary sources of iron? We need to dig deeper and explore digestion and absorption factors instead of just supplementing with iron forever. Another example: feeling anxious in perimenopause? Nutrient status assessment is required first before jumping to hormone support.

2.

Let's not forget the low hanging fruit.

Our bodies simply don't work well when we aren't drinking enough water, eating real food or sleeping properly. We can't skip these steps!

3.

Just because fancy functional tests exist, doesn't mean we should run them.

Further testing should help guide treatment choices and provide insight that we didn't previously have. I frequently discuss the best testing options weighing out the pro's and limitations for each one.

My Story

You could say I've had a unique journey to Naturopathic Medicine since both of my parents are medical doctors, and as a matter-of-fact, both of my grandfathers were too! I've always dreamt of following in their foot steps and becoming a doctor one day as well. I first graduated with a Medical Sciences degree from the University of Western Ontario. It wasn’t until I was about to apply to medical schools (yes, I even wrote the gruelling MCAT) that I discovered Naturopathic Medicine and fell in love with its comprehensive and preventative approach to healthcare. I haven't looked back since!

About Me

I married a Port Carling local which brought us to Bracebridge in 2021, attracted to living in an area so close to the outdoors and the activities that we enjoy.

I have two children: my son born in 2020 and my baby girl born recently  in 2024. We also have a majestic golden retriever named Rosseau - all three who make my life full, happy, and help me get my steps in each day!
